The cable itself is of high quality. Good product but could be better if the protective end cover was designed to interface correctly with the XM cable end which is right angled. The cover simply will not fit.
I'm back to where I was before I paid for this, and have to keep my roadyxt in the boombox near the front door instead of moving it further into my apartment as the extension kit would have allowed if it worked. I wonder if the "boot covering" some have mentioned has a function but if it does, it would be nice if Audiovox would explain how to use the connection in a FAQ or manual.
Intended for a straightline connection as far as the weather boot, but the roadyxt home antenna has a 90 degree angle end, but that is not the cause of the problem. Apparently replaces the Delphi SA10006 but did not hold a signal on my roadyxt and belkin boombox, which work fine with the original home antenna.
Cannot find a manual online, hard to reach customer support today, antenna extension does not hold a signal. Today it does not give any signal at all until I remove the extension kit and go straight from the boombox to the antenna without the extension.
Main problem is it's just not reliable, maybe mine is defective. It seems to slip a bit off the post on the adaptor.
Sometimes it did result in playing the XM signal a short period but then would stop.
I use it with the XM outdoor home antenna and have no problems. The cable is sturdy and works as expected.
By the way, 50' of cord is longer than it sounds, I think it would have reached almost any room in my house, and I have most of it coiled up behind the couch. It took about 10 minutes and I haven't noted any change in sound quality or recording quality. I am very happy with this product. This antenna extension was very easy to install and good quality. It has a waterproof sleeve that locks over the connection bit, to keep out moisture, then I just chucked the cord out the upstairs window and pulled the other end in through the downstairs window, and plugged it into my radio.
The issue is the cable-to-adapter connection is a slip fit - and it slips. I then added an XM signal repeater and that was icing on the cake. The antenna has a coax connection and comes with an adapter to plug this cable into.
I know you have to limit how much coax you use because the signal goes away in a hurry, but 3' resulted in no signal loss. The whole package is fantastic - I just don't like the slip-fit connection on an outdoor antenna. After all that, everything was perfect.
I bought this to connect a Delphi SkyFiII to a Terk outdoor XM antenna. So, I used a 3' RG6 coax to get the slip-fit connection to a place I could protect it and take any wind or other stress that would make it come apart out of the picture. Maybe should have researched a coax-compatible amplifier, but in the end, this is working, so.we're happy.
A rubber boot (provided) covers the connection from the cable to the adapter to the antenna. I tried using coax all the way into the house, but had no signal strength when it was all said and done.
